Short Bio
Linard Cantieni has been Full Professor of Underground Construction at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich since 1 December 2024. Linard Cantieni graduated from ETH Zurich with a degree in civil engineering and subsequently completed his doctorate at ETH Zurich's Chair of Underground Construction with a thesis on the spatial effects in tunnelling. After his dissertation, he worked for two years in Singapore and then in Switzerland on the planning of various underground construction projects. During his time in industry, he worked closely with ETH and EPFL to develop calculation models for modelling the interaction between low-permeability rock and tunnel support.
